UFC Throwdown is another installment in the UFC game collection that has its positives and negatives.

The Gameplay is the same as all the past UFC games and doesn’t include some things that the Pride game has. For example there is no open guard position and a lot of the newer attacks the Pride game has, the UFC game only has some of them in it. The create a fighter is very limited, there are only a few looks and you can only change a couple of their attacks, but there are some guys you can make the look pretty good considering the limited create-a-fighter. The game looks good and is definitely the best looking UFC game yet. The octagon and the characters are more polished and look better then ever before. But, they are still not perfect and have a little bit of a too light or washed out look to them. Also the game does have a good fighter selection. The games sound is definitely the weakest point of the game, with lousy music and the sounds of the octagon aren’t very good either. The game has a very long mode to unlock all the characters in the game and if you’re a fan of this type of game you’ll be able to play matches for a long time. Overall this game is a good UFC game and the best in the series so far. Unfortunately it isn’t that different from the Dreamcast game. It definitely has some improvements from it, but could stand to have a few more. If you’re looking to buy one fighting game this generation and aren’t worried about what fighters are in it, then I would have to recommend the Pride game, because overall the Pride game has more improvements and a better create-a-fighter then any other UFC game. But, if your looking to get a UFC game with your favorite UFC fighters, that you can’t make in the Pride game. For example Chuck Liddell cannot be made respectively in the PrideFC game or just want a game with UFC guys, then this is the probably your best bet this gen.
