One step foreward = One step Back
Fifa has taken a step foreward in graphics and gameplay. Both ahve improved slightly from fifa 08, and if they are improved for 09 again Fifa 09 could be a real treat. Fifa has also made it more difficult with the opposition making amazing counter attacks and attacking moves. The AI deffinetly are playing much more as a team.
But while Fifa has taken one step foreward, they ultimatly take one step back.
First of all, for all duch people (i am one) or holland supports, you will be dissapointed to know that you wont be guiding 'oranje' through EURO but instead will be guiding a made up team (van notenboom anyone?). HOW can they not get the rights of one of the biggest teams in europe i dont know!
Another dissapointing element is that the game engine sucks! i was playing as Finland and i was suprised to see Kazakstan beat Portugal 2-1! how i dont know but apperntly Macedonia qualified to EURO as well!
Lastly, but most importantly, the AI attack may have improved, but the defence steps back into the dark ages! teh defence in EURO is pathetic, with the 2 CB's going sideways leaving gigantic craters in you defence where the opposition can basically walk through. BEWARE, matches in EURO 08 often end 4-3!
Some may say i suck but believe me i play world class, and i played world class with Fifa 08 and didnt have this problem. I think the problem is that the AI goes through man-marking which causes the defence to move and leave wide gaps!
Anyway long review i know but just wanted to get everything out there. I think its worth buying if you want to play EURO 08 on your PC and see what happens, but if your waiting or expecting good gameplay, better wait for Fifa 09!
