A classic to withhold the test of time.

User Rating: 9 | Twisted Metal World Tour PS
'Twisted Metal 2: World Tour' easily earns a spot beside your good ol' PS1. It is recommendable to anyone that has a taste for blowing things up, smashing an opponent like your in a destructioin derby, or fast paced gunning it down with all the havoc you'd need to make you feel like your one hell of a madd civilian. Basically, in Twisted Metal you compete using small to large vehicles armed and ready to go with a barrage of destructive and unique weapons. Your mission is to destroy anything you can destroy including enemies, buildings, cars, landmarks, and pedestrians. The story follows a Twisted Metal contest going worldwide and whoever wins the contest; is granted anything they desire. Thats the immediate storyline, however; since this is 2008, if you have been following the charcters stories, you will begin to recognize that the other Twisted Metals are creating a bit of a complex, overarching storyline with the characters and the connections are slowly being made by the developers as well. Unfortuanately, it isn't fair to review a game knowing it should be judged in its time not when the review actually arrived. Twisted Metal 2 has seen a fine tuning of its original gameplay, some of the rarely useful weapons have been harnessed in to an energy bar combo system in which you input a few D-pad buttons to cause a situationally useful attack, marvellous! The control has become allot sharper allowing for less incidental deaths. The bettered graphics make it easier to recognize what's your opponent and what is a piece of harmless debris. There is also the ability for 2 player to fight together in tournament and the presentation is beefier and better. I would have preferred a little bit of an easier difficulty, 3 lives go fast like your walking across a highspeed highway (you'll be gone in the first minute if you aren't on your toes) it may be invigorative to some (it did keep me coming back) but it was no easy challenge. I also think that a save system would have been nice... But its a fact to face; Twisted Metal is back and its better than it ever was before; if you want a challenging game experience that will have truelly earned its name in that top 5 best games I've ever played; Rent this! Steal this! Buy this! Whatever! Just don't leave this landmark game untouched...
