Just because its not GTA doesn't mean its not fun. Who knew Los Angeles was that big? True Crime does, every part of LA.

True Crime Streets of LA is an action adventure game and also is a game where you can explore the world, well not literally but you can roam around Los Angeles. This game is compared to Grand theft Auto because it was the next free roam game after GTA. The mechanics are very similar to GTA but not quite all.

In this game you play as a cop named Nick Kang who is working with the Law. The storyline is different depending on if you are a "Good" cop or "Bad" cop. if you are a good cop as the level progresses you will get more missions and the you will reach a better ending if you are a bad cop you will have limited missions to play and the ending will not be that fun and exciting, There are two meters for Good and Bad cop status. To gain the meter for a good cop you have to do things like help solve a crime, arrest people carrying illegal drugs or weapons, and an easy way to gain the meter is playing those sneaking missions. Its very simple to be a bad cop just go around shooting people or beat them up or cause destruction to the city. You can become a bad cop way faster than being a good one, but that will change the storyline unless you finish the game already as a good cop then you can mess around all day.

Every mission you finish completely in a chapter will gain you a bonus mission where you can choose to increase Nick Kang's shooting, fighting, or driving skills. You must go through a course for each skill to gain something new. If you past the shooting course you get a new and stronger gun, if you past driving course you will get a new and faster and more good looking car. Passing the fighting course will get Nick Kang a new fighting move. Each skill comes in handy depending on the type of missions your doing. Your mostly bound to play missions that have a lot of shooting and fighting in it and a new car can help you beat a time trial mission quicker.(Trust me if you don't your going to have a hard time passing those time trial missions) Of course theres always cheat codes :D The downside of this game is some missions are just very hard and frustrating but only some and Nick Kang can only use pistols unless you pick up the enemy's weapons which are always fun to use but waste ammo quick.

Free roaming around Los Angeles is pretty fun. You get to explore every street Los Angeles has and every town in Los Angeles. I'm not sure if the houses are accurate but they put a good effort making them. The soundtrack for True Crime is great contains about over 50 songs but its mostly full of rap and hip hop music and some rock. The graphics are really great for a game made around this year.

Overall True Crime Streets of LA is a really fun game. Its no GTA but it will deliver some things you like if your a GTA fan and Nick Kang's humor in this game is hiliarious. Audio and graphics are good, a fantastic storyline, gameplay mechanics are easy to learn, and free roaming is fast pace and nice but less descriptive.
