To date this is STILL the greatest baseball game ever released. When I picked this up I had low expectations.
I'm not really a baseball fan but every few years I'll pick up a baseball game and have a go-round at the plate. In 1997 EA Sports released what is still the greatest baseball I've ever played.
The pre game intros were great, every stadium rendered and beautiful and the sounds were amazing. Play by play was also as good if not better than some of the baseball games released even this year.
The game offered a mixture of open, forward, or normal stances which influenced which way you hit the ball. This played a big part in strategy and moving your baserunners. Even now you cant move your stance in games.
You could alter your stance between pitches and really mess with your friends or the computer.
The AI was REALLY GOOD and every game was challenging. You could still crush a few now and again but it was very realtistic. Home run derbys were a blast and presentation was better than games ive played in the last 2 years.
Overall, if I still had this game I would still play it. Easily the best baseball game ever released on any platform.
