As a Tribes 2 fan and a Sci-Fi fan I can't say that Tribes Ascend is worth the hype.

There's a lot wrong with Tribes Ascend and a few things right. If you compare the game to Tribes 2 you will notice that there is a lot lacking in the game. No global map where you can give orders, see/use friendly equipment, etc.

The only thing they got right with Tribes Ascend was the skiing. In every other category from the generator, vehicles, loadouts, gameplay mechanics, etc Tribes Ascend fails.

So far they still don't have the Thundersword Bomber, the Shrike flies like crap, etc.

The gun store is so damn annoying and they made so many variants of the same weapons just to give you something to unlock or pay for. I find the maps incredibly boring in comparison to their online store they used to get money.

Tribes Ascend is a novelty game meant to be played for a few days and then move on. Seriously. There is no lasting appeal.

I am in shock at how hyped this game got almost entirely due to memes on Youtube and reddit etc...
