Probably the worst game that has to do with danmaku. Better to skip to the sixth game. It has mostly bad qualities.

Touhou is probably well known for every game after the fifth. So what am, I this new reviewer doing here. Well to tell you the truth I don't know, but now that I'm here I might as well share my opinion of this disapointing game. The reason I give it disapointing is because this series is known to be great but sadly it failed. I mean it really failed. Well we should probably break this into bits.

First we will observe how it coped in the genre. That basicly means how is it compared to other games of the genre. As a danmaku game it's pretty underwelming. While bullet are flying everywhere it doesn't really give you the sense of a real bullet curtain. It gives you the feel of a bullet rampage or so. Bascily it didn't live up to it's genre. So let's take out a point for that

Story: For a danmaku game it does have a bit of a story but it just doesn't give me the feel of something important. More than not I feel like I didn't get something unless I was told so. In one part of the game my flying turtle told me a final boss is about and she showed up. While she didn't fight me I knew she was the final boss. This is pitiful.

Gameplay and Controls:Oh yep here is the big chunk of our review. Game playwise the game is pretty good. Although it does hit you with some problems. The controls are a bit chunky for a danmaku game. An example of this is not being able to put yourself in a single perfect position like most of the other games let me do. The gameplay in itself has some very bad problems which might affect something. The hitbox for your character is HUGE. I'm not joking, these two problems I just mentioned together make it lose so many points. It's like adding a poison to a weapon and saying you're a pacifist. I might not care too much if it was a game where dodging bullets doesn't matter too much to me, but this game's whole point is to dodge bullets and blow things up. This is gonna hurt you Touhou fanboys.

Graphics and Sound: This game was pretty dissapointing on the graphics. I know my PC-98 and trust me the graphics where way better than this game's graphics and the game was older. Ouch. Next we have problems where the sound is kinda low quality. It looks 8-bit but we all know that the PC-98 looked better than 8-bit and it should but this game really defied that one. Goodbye points.

Conclusion: This game is pretty bad. While it is the first Touhou danmaku game it has no right to be this bad. Especially for the standards of the PC-98 era. While most of the game could use tons of work. If you have it already patched and ready to play, give it a quick little go so you can see how a great series of games started.
