Until recently Tennis games have been limited in scope, and gameplay has not maintain my interest for more than an hour or so. In this important way, Top Spin is an improvement. Playing against the computer, is actually very challening and you can really mix up your shotmaking with the choice of safe, top spin, slice, power shots, lobs, etc. Power shots and power serves involve quite a bit of skill in that you must set your player in the right position to return the shot, and time your swing in an exacting manner.

You can choose from a variety of real ATP/WTA players to play against, and can play any of the grandslam tournaments , along with the major tour stops. Career mode allows you to start with a beginner player, and through practice, coaching and competition, you can become a champion. To get to this point, takes time, because at the beginning your player will repeatedly get slaugtered by the tour stars and journeymen/women.

This game is more than an evolution in tennis gaming but stops short of becoming a revolution. Its entertaining, the gameplay is much enhanced, and I can see myself playing this online for many months to come.
