Top Spin 2 is no doubt an awesome tennis game but it is a lot harder than virtua tennis. The graphics and sound is excellent but the game starts to get repetitive after awhile. In the beginning you have to create a guy and start your career. The customization is okay but I've seen a lot better. The thing I hate most about this game is the training. It's hard and annoying and you can't restart if you fail you have to pay to replay the training. This is annoying because in the beginning there aren't too many tournaments to compete in to get money. I usually turned the game off and restarted because if you complete the training you get two stars but if you fail you get one. Throughout the entire career you can choose one of three options during the week you have the choice of training, a tournament, or a specialty event which sometimes there won't always be one. You get to choose a coach except in the beginning but each coach has a different specialty to help you in you can only go up to 60 stars which when you first receive a star it's bronze than you have to win tournaments to change your bronze stars to silver and then you change the silver stars to gold which you get by beating the pros. The stars btw are just like attribute points. Later in the game you get to choose your sponsor whom the sponsors give you reward money for completing certain tasks. When you max out your player the game starts to get easy and turn repetitive because you can beat a lot of the players with ease. You also get a rival who is introduced in the beginning of the game and he follows your career and you can face in one on one in specialty events or you'll face him in most tournaments once you can play in grand slams or masters. He is also your final challenge at the end of the game. The single player career is long you have to go through five seasons which I believe there are 21 weeks in a season. I didn't play online because I just figured nobody would be on now that top spin 4 is out.
Overall Top Spin 2 is a game for real tennis fans due to the difficulty. If you're not that much of a tennis fan and prefer just to play a tennis game I would highly recommend Virtua Tennis.
