Good ideas with great potential which sadly materialised into a slow paced bore fest.

Too human had the potential to be a truly great game, centred around the Norse mythology but given a sci-fi twist.
The controls are poorly planned owing to over use of the right stick as the primary combat control, as a result camera angles were often a cause for concern and there was a considerable learning curve to adjust to this strange button layout, it seems that the produces wanted to be innovative and discount many features from hack and slash games when it came to actual game play.
Fights tend to progress at a slow pace with waves of enemies surrounding you but only a couple being in range for an attack, using ranged weapons can take whatever fun was to be found within the the combat and reduce it to nothing but methodical point, shoot and roll tactics.
Bosses fights were one of the highlights of the game, adding different situations to the very repetitive combat against mobs and were numbered enough to make the game bearable but not enough to actually make it interesting.
The graphics stood out as the best feature of the game, providing a good looking backdrop for all this hack and slash action to take place in, the helped to set the mood with each different scenario and made the armies of goblins and trolls that amassed against you look truly cold and formidable, however they added too much to the sparse and harsh landscape that the producers were obviously aiming for and as a result it was hard to find any appreciation for the fantastic art ideas simply because everything was played down too much or had no charm, for example towards the start of the game your character has a run around through some ruins, there is definite inspiration from norse mythology but sadly this is overlooked as everything is so vast and empty leaving minor details as nothing more than a wasted attempt to add interest.
The voice acting was of a good enough standard and did well to keep the story line moving.
The story however is a major cause for concern, it is drip fed to you over the course of your adventure and is abruptly cut short just as it shows some potential, leaving you frustrated and unsatisfied after completing the game.
there are a vast amount of items to pick up and use and blueprints to find to help improve your character, this adds a bit more depth to the game and provides some satisfaction as you constantly improve your weapons and armour throughout the game.
Overall too human failed to live up to the hype the producers sent out prior to its release, mostly due to a wildly ambitious control layout that took the fun out of fights, and a weak storyline, these things coupled with minor annoyances such as the resurrection animations as you wait for your character to re-spawn after dying or how deceptively linear the game was.
Even if you find this game in the bargain bin, there really is not much point buying since there is little replay value and that first time round will only leave you frustrated or bored.
