Good But Not Great

User Rating: 8.3 | Tony Hawk's Project 8 PS2
I bought this games because i couldnt get a Playstation 3 a t launch and couldnt play my PS3 copy so i wasnt expecting much and thats exactly what i got. This Port is lacks a lot of the features from the other game, its missing pro goals, different challenges, levels, skateshop features, and tricks yet its very fun. The game doesnt have that many levels and has skipped the streaming world this time around.the levels look great and what levels are in the next gen versions are very on key with their next gen counter parts. which brings me to the graphics which are absolutely amazing for a PS2 game and is obviously where all the effort was put for this game. As for skating only skaters will care about this but FS and BS are oppisite on spins. the only new skating feature is nail the trick which doesnt even come with all its features but is still very fun. In create a skater, the only create mode but it still says just "create" in the main menu making u expect more create features but no. No create-a-trick(nail the trick now),create a graphic, and create a park. And creating ur non storymode character is pointless cuz its not like theres anything u can do in freeskate, also u cant remap ur create-a-skater tricks which made me really mad. Theres no online play which is rediculous because the PS2 had an online system, so all you can do is career mode which is short, goals are hard but not like extremely hard, a hardcore player can do everything in a week. Its hard to show your really hardcore because gaps have videos that show u how to do them taking almost all the effort out and i mandatory to beat the career. Create a skater is good but is split up into 3 styles so u cant mix it up to get what u want so u have little options and the PS2 misses the option to be a girl which will anger female players. The soundtrack is good featuring pop-punk hip hop and rock, its a great mix with some good diversity with some stand out tracks like "wonder years" by wildchild and "plastic passion" by the cure. The game is still fun and is a great game for tony hawk fans not ready for the next gen but if you have a next generation system pick up the next gen copy.
