User Rating: 9 | Tony Hawk's Pro Skater PS

Originally released in 1999 for the PS1, Tony Hawk Pro Skater is a amazing and fun game that can keep you busy for hours.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater starts you off with 10 pro skaters such as Tony Hawk, Chad Muska, Bob Burnquist, or Jamie Thomas. What made this game interesting is that you can pick what type of board, wheel, and trucks you want. After you select your pro skater and gear you are presented with 9 levels, you then skate through the level and do 5 challenges and each level there are many different challenges like collecting the letter SKATE or getting a certain high score like 15,000 or 25,000 points you also get a 2 minute time limit. 3 levels in the game are competition levels, which if you get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place you will unlock the next level. For a 15 year old game the graphics are also pretty good.

In order to move on to the next level you have to collect a certain amount of VHS Tapes which are unlocked by completing challenge, certain number of VHS Tapes can also unlock boards. The levels in Tony Hawk Pro Skater are really fun and really well made. This game also has a awesome soundtrack that fits the game perfectly, it contains songs from many bands such as Goldfinger, The Suicide Machines, and The Ernies.

15 years later Tony Hawk Pro Skater is still a very good game and a instant classic, this game was also ported to the Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast. Both are a little better due to the N64 having less pixels and the Dreamcast having better sounds. If you don't have this game in your retro game collection it's crazy not to have it.
