You might as well wipe the dust of your N64 or PS1 and play those versions...

I am a huge fan of the first 2 Tony Hawk PS games. Me and my friends used to play them religiously on the N64. Then when the Dreamcast version of THPS 2 was released we played it even more. And we played the hell outta the 2x version for the Xbox. So all things considered this should be the best version yet right? Wrong. Right of the bat it has things excluded that the original 1999 release had, which boggles my mind since this is 2012 and it's released on the current highest gen of consoles.

1. You can't customize your skateboard, not even change the wheel colors. There are only a few decks to choose from. You board doesn't get scratched or beat up from grinding either.
2. You can't customize a skater, you can't even chose from the originals. If you want Chad Musak, Bucky Lasek, or Geoff Rowley forget about it. There is an extremely weak selection of skaters to chose from mostly new skaters.
3. There is only a measly 7 maps to choose from. This version should have had all the levels from the first 2 games.
4. You can't customize a skate park like in the 2x version.
5. You can't play split screen. The online matchmaking is broken, it's impossible to play a full game without something happening (lost connection, serious lag, etc.). SKATE vs. mode is gone.
6. The graphics are weak considering it's a HD remake, they barely look better than the 2x version for the Xbox. The fall animations are even worst than the first game that was made in the 90's.
7. The list goes on but it's not worth it.

The only thing this version has going for it is that you can unlock achievements. If you saw this release and felt the itch to go down memory lane, I'm telling you as a long time THPS player, ALL of the old releases are better in every way. Keep in mind though it's not terrible, the gameplay is identical and it's still just as fun as it ever was. Is just that it's only a small portion of what it should have been.
