My favorite baseball game...all others paled in comparison!

This game was not the flashiest or the best with the most stylish graphics or big name stars. This game came out in 1989. Thus, it was not the most modern, up to date with all the bells and whistles newer games would later have. No, this game was just plain fun to play and had a way better flow to it than many of the newer games out there.

"Tommy Lasorda Baseball" (maybe the first and LAST game with this hall of famer on the cover and title) was a pure joy to play! I loved playing this for hours against friends and family alike and especially liked getting a no-hitter going especially how challenging this game was! Even when I became a great player at it, there were tons of times the computer AI would still get a rally going or trounce my behind 12-0 that's how good the AI was!

The game is pretty simple, you can play a game or a whole season by yourself and get yourself into the playoffs and even the world series! All teams are "Pre" realignment (meaning Atlanta was still in the NL West!), no MLB endorsments here or teams just the simple "LA vs San Francisco" format but who CARED! Turning the double play, striking a guy out looking, or hitting a choice grand slam were all treasured moments I will have in my memory for times to come!

Graphics, sound, and gameplay were all sound and effective (except for never being able to throw a wild pitch! No matter how wide you threw it!) I think Tommy Lasorda actually did some sound bites for this game too but you cannot really tell it is him! Ha ha!

Great keeper or find it on e-bay, if you have it fire it up on the ole' Sega Genesis!

"Play Ball!"
