A fresh, new feel to a classic series!

User Rating: 8.5 | Tomb Raider (The Final Hours Edition) PS3
Keep in mind, I only have about 5 hours into the game.

First and foremost, if you've ever played any of the Uncharted Games, this is another one to add to your arsenal. Beautiful, lush scenery with great gaming dynamics. This game sets the mood for survival. As Lara, you're not some egocentric protagonist on crack where you're movements are greatly enhanced. When you climb up onto a ledge, you can visibly see her struggle, as well as feel the vibrations in your controller. It really humanizes the character and gives you, the gamer, the same emotional and physical ordeals.

The game has a solid feel to it, and it's always on the move. You can hear the sound of trees creaking in the wind. Can visibly see droplets on Lara or the screen as it rains, or shows soaked clothing after hopping out of a river. When you move or run the camera motion can really move around a bit. If you're prone to motion sickness, I'd pop a pill before playing. It's not a distracting type of movement though, just something that adds more depth to the game.

Some hair raising moments. Especially with the wildlife, and hunting deer is enjoyable. If you miss your mark ever so slightly, you will have to track it down and wait for it to die, or just knock another arrow and finish the job.

Using the bow is a GREAT addition to the game, as well as all the other weapons [that I've unlocked so far]. It lost a half a point because when I equip the gun, my bow suddenly disappears. They did so well on the realism aspect, that they neglected that one thing. I'm picky that way, so if you exclude that, it gets a solid 9 out of 10.

Weapon customization, animal hunting, scavenging, and tomb raiding have a natural feel to it. When you make camp, you have the option of going back and finding or unlocking things you couldn't before, instead of having to "restart" a level. That is a great perk right there.

Voice overs are great! The fan boys/girls over Lara will not be disappointed. The game has a new swagger overall, and it feels right.

The game bugged once so far, but that was easily resolved by turning my PS3 off and on. I was still at my location from the last auto save.....it's not a game breaker, just a tad annoying.

Multi-player:
It's enjoyable like Uncharted 3 was, but slightly limited. Multi-player differs greatly from person to person so it's one of those you should experience for yourself. It's a great addition and they can only improve from it. Shooting another person in the dome with a bow is extremely satisfying. The first few times it takes some getting used too. The maps are tight, but all you need is a little strategy [and some luck]. Slightly long loading times which could take away that "gamer high".

If you're a fan of Tomb Raider, they don't disappoint. If you're new to the series, it's a must have for all adventurers, puzzle solving/exploring types. Is it worth $60? I say yes. 5 hours into it and only 11% through and that's without going back to collect treasure and such. Well worth the clams.

I've felt I played enough to give it a solid review. Can't wait to get back into it!
