PS2 Version Worth The Wait?

User Rating: 6 | Tomb Raider: Underworld PS2
I bought the PS2 version just recently after finding out it had some extras that are going to be in the 360 downloadable content (lame) and just to see the differences in this version overall. So what can i say about the PS2 version of TRU? Well overall its a step down from TRL/TRA in the graphics department. The colors are washed out but Lara's model is pretty nice. I have found out if you increase the colour and turn down brightness and contrast the game looks awesome especially Thailand it looks very nice. To be honest i wasnt expecting the PS2 version to be good in graphics but it could have been better. So onto the actual game then. I have to say im pretty dissapointed in the game i think this even more boring than Legend. Nearly all of the levels have huge halls or areas where you just run, run and run more. Each level only has about 2 or 4 enemies which are extremely easy to kill to. The good thing is the bike section that was cut from the next gen versions is here on the PS2 version and its pretty fun the same with Mexico they added the Cold House and some other areas. Some levels i like the ambience and it reminds me of the classic games but when i watch the PS3 version of Thailand for example it sees much more alive and real than this version. Another major problem is the controls. This is actually worse than AOD to be honest. Sometimes when i press the analogue in a certain direction she takes a few mins to actually go that way. The camera also has one setting which is horrid for me i always change the axis. To be honest this game should only be played if your desperate to play TRU or if your a die hard fan like me and want it added to your collection. Save your money up for a PS3 instead and then you can get TRU and TR9 ;)
