tr4-tlr is the most underrated tomb raider.this game is pure epic.all the action & adventure takes place in egipt, excluding the training levels that are taking place in cambodgia.
you start the game in cambodgia in 1984,where lara is an adolescent & where she is training with the "famous"archaeologist werner von croy-nothing else but a villan which uses lara to take the iris artifact...
in the game, you really feel that you are in egipt-the game has depth & is immersive.i don't think that it's the best sequel but it's the most representative.
the gameplay has new features & weapons-you get laser sights to combine with diferent new weapons like the revolver & the crossbow.you also have different types of ammo to choose from.in this game you will get to swing with ropes,it's kind of frustrating-it could have been better.
this game is unique in the tr series because you get to go back & forth through levels.it's hard.i think that the hardest part is represented by the combined levels trenches, chambers of tulun & the citadel gate, where you have to go back & forth through them, again & again to get items & other stuff.
the music is great as usuall-oriental style, full of mystery & fear & some tracks are really catchy.
there are 35 levels in which you go back & forth through some of them-it's the longest tomb raider game but despite this,it will take you under 20 hours.
this game is also full of puzzles, like never before-it's a really hard challenge at every corner like in no other tr game.
lara has unleashed the armageddon when she took the amulet of horus...now,she must "fix" this "anomally".in further levels, the sky will get green & ultimatelly red.alone the way,you will get to fight with skeletons-this reminds me prince of persia.
another interesting feature is when you get poisoned-the screen becomes blurry & you really have the sensation that you are poisoned in comparison with tr3 where "nothing happened with the screen"when you got poisonned.
yes,tr3 is somehow a dissapointment but this one is trully great.the compass from tr1 is back but i really miss lara's mansion & all that fun with the butller...
i think that it would have become a cliche to train for the 4th time at lara's home & also it couldn't have been extended again, like it was from tr1 to tr3.
at the end of the game, lara fights with set & after that she is burried under the collapsing piramid, avoiding to be helped by von croy to get out.i think that she prefered to be burried under the piramid than to get in that villain's hands.that von croy is chasing you through-out the game, like pierre does in tr1.
if you want to get this game, first you must have all the collection to trully understand this phenomenon called tomb raider.
