Although this game was hyped beyond belief, dont expect an adventure on par with the originals.

User Rating: 6.5 | Tomb Raider: Legend PS2
Intro: I came into Legend with high expectations. I had waited a very long wait from playing Angel of Darkness which I did enjoy greatly. I saw every trailer and development video that was released on the internet just because I was so excited for this game. Even when I played the Demo from the Playstation Magazine I felt that this could be her best adventure yet. To my surprise, the full game did not turn out to be anything that I hoped it to be.

Visuals: First let me say that this game is gorgeous. Locations are well put together and the frame rate was as solid as any PS2 game could run aside from the Final Fantasy's of course. Lara Croft is looking particularly good this time around and if you are anything like me, you will be very pleased about this.

Sound: After the Angel of Darkness, I was expecting more. Apart from the main theme, I was slightly disappointed. Every track in Angel of Darkness was so excelent and fit the game so well that it contributed to the experience. Unfortuinatly, the music and midi's in the game are forgetable

Controls: This game controls like an absolute dream. After struggling through certain parts of Angel of Darkness I was so relieved to play this engine. Fianlly, Lara feels limber and controls exactly how she should. The controls is what Chrystal Dynamics ultimatly gets credit for

Story and Gameplay: This is what ultimatly disappointed me. This game as it is would have been perfect if the present game was the first half of the story. I accepted the difficulty expecting it to build as I got further. Unfortunatly, it never did and it ended on one of if not the worst Tomb Raider Ending ever. This game was so short that I finished it in less than one sitting and it was not even that long of a sitting. Ultimatly this game is 1/4 as long as Angel of Darkness and maybe 1/6 as long as The Last Revelation.

The Story in this game is the most cliche-ridden, bland, and predictable Tomb Raider plot ever. For some, this is forgivable as the controls are so good but for players liek me who enhoy the RPG aspect, I was sorely disappointed. I liked most of the characters but the Villains were horrible. The main baddie is just bland and forgettable but Amanda, Lara's ex-friend is a terrible character. Her motives are not explained in neither this game nor Underworld as she is simply an annoiance and an idiotic nousence. I mean this when I say, she is absoutly the worst Tomb Raider Villain of all time.

Closing Comments: If you love Tomb Raider, play this game if you havn't already. I recommend picking up the Trilogy pack so you get the full experience which makes this game fit but on its own as I have said, it simply cannot stand. IF you want a quick and easy experinece, by all means play this but do not expect a masterpiece.
