Patchtastic

User Rating: 4 | Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege XONE

When this game came out I was excited but reserved because I was thinking Ubisoft was slapping the Rainbow Six title to get sales (after all your team is only 5 not 6), there was no single player and it was still $60 even thought it was only 16gb of data; hell Ori and the Blind Forest was 7.6gb! With all me friends getting it and the fact DLC was free I decided to jump in.

There was a big learning curve by comparison to other FPS games. It was fresh and fun with some subtle issues, like matchmaking with 4 people in the party. But non the less I liked it. Then came the patches, oh, the patches. Not going into all the details but the first patch was mainly to fix matchmaking, however hit detection became terrible. Shooting people in the head, they would turn around and kill me and I wasn't the only one. Which is why they quickly moved to fix it.

In the middle of all this, the "free" DLC came out. Got a new map (which we learned was full of bugs of it's own) and two new operators which were available a week before everyone else if you bought the season pass, I did not. So I waited a week, thinking I would have to use renown (a in game currency you get by playing and completing objectives). But the amount of renown is insane! Your typical round, if you win, could get you up to 500 renown; given you complete an objective or you have a boost. The new operators cost 25,000 a piece, you'd have to complete and win 50 matches just for one! And that's if you win and complete a objective and have a booster. Realistically, it'll take you 75 or more just to unlock one. That is crazy considering how long the matches last. So the DLC is not so free, it'll cost you a ton of time. Just as an example the DLC has been out sense Feb 9th, I have been playing sense launch and I have one operator unlocked and I'm 10000 renown away from the second. By the time I get enough, the next DLC would have already been out. I get that it's free but seriously they want you to get frustrated and buy it. It was a dirty tactic to get people to buy the game in the first place, if I would have known how much it would take to get the DLC, I think I might have not got the game.

Here comes another patch! This one was suppose to fix spawning, because there are people who break out windows and kill you where you spawn (cause they are pathetic at life and killing people before they have a chance to leave their spawn gives them satisfaction they don't feel otherwise; it's not a tactic, it' cheap). But.......it didn't work, surprise! Also it massed up hit detection yet again. If you hit people in the torso it'll take you forever and you think you're playing COD, if you want a head shot you should spray not aim for accuracy doesn't count, if you shoot someone in the foot you might get a head shot?

All and all it was fun at first but now it's just a mess of frustration and bewilderment as you think how that guy who has his back turned was able to turn around while you're shooting him and kill you. Thanks Ubisoft for ruining a fun game and to add more to this insult I have decided to not get the Division nor any other Ubisoft game. I know it was made by a different group but it's still published by the same company that let this travesty take place.
