Had great potential but fell short!

The story line is actually good if you pay attention to all of it and spend the time to find story items through out the map. Gun mechanics are good and game play mechanics are decent. This game could have been so much more and feels not well thought out after about 6-8 hours of game play. However even with its short comings if you like games to coop with your friends its a great game to pick up for a few hours play.

My primary complaints are few but they are large. First this game feels like it was made for PC and ported to console with the amount of game play mechanics involved. For example they give you a mortar strike which is really cool but using it in the middle of combat is very hard with the fact that you have to aim it with right thumb stick then hold left trigger, then select mortar stick with left thumb stick then press A button (xbox) all the while if you get shot your aim will move and you have to start over.

Second, while I actually like the movement in games to "open world" environments, Wildlands had a bit of a miss step in the methods of traveling. The game scape in wild lands is huge and obviously getting from one end of the country to the other would be a big gaming challenge. I don't mind the fast travel option to get around, which is essentially teleportation around the world between safe havens, but there are so many helicopters just lying around in this game that its comical. There are helicopters in Bolivia like there are Prius's in the US, they are everywhere. then the game gets really broken when you rank your character up and can just spawn a helicopter in font of you.

My last complaint is that this game has moments where being stealth is critical and you are not able to pick up bodies and hide them. In recent memory I haven't played a game where stealth was emphasized and you cant pick up a body and hide them. If you play the game long enough you will get to missions where you are infiltrating a compound with 25+ guys and if you get discovered once the mission is a fail. Its not uncommon that you will get half way through a mission that has taken you 30 min and all of the sudden someone who is roving the parameter spots a body you left there 25 min ago and the mission is over.

Given those knocks on the game it still is pretty fun and one that I have dumped 40-50 hours into. If you are a collectibles person there is a tone to collect. Story items, Intel, guns, gun attachments and so on. This game also play's really well solo and in many cases I find the game easier to play solo than with friends only because it is rare that your AI comrades will be the reason you fail a mission where as some of your friends online are less predictable.
