Unleashed makes most problems of The Sims just worse

User Rating: 5 | The Sims: Unleashed PC
At first sight, Unleashed is another regular expansion to the successful The Sims. The major additions to the series include pets and gardening. Besides that, you'll get the usual assortment of new house furnishings and career paths, plus a whole new area of Sim City, the Old Town, where you can shop for anything related to pets and plant growing.

While these new features, especially pets, are reasonably fun to fool with, they make the shortcomings of the original game almost unbearable.

After installing the expansion pack, the neighbourhood will become populated by packs of stray dogs and cats, which you can interact with. However, as a consequence, path-finding issues become a real nightmare as collisions of Sims with the numerous critters drastically increase in frequency. Expect plenty of occasions when a Sim spends five hours of game time trying to negotiate a passage in his own house with a stubborn dog.

The little furry creatures won't contend themselves with blocking the passages of your house, they will stroll around the road blissfully ignoring the maniacal honking of drivers of school buses and carpools. Unless you have a fetish for car sirens, you will soon be completely turning off the sound to preserve your sanity, robbing yourself of one of the game's strongest features.

Bottom line: only for die-hard The Sims fans with very high frustration tolerance.
