While its easy and over in a flash, the simpsons game is fun while it last.
The bad:some visual oddities in animated cutscenes.Framerate issues.easy gameplay. over in over 6 hours. coop leaves the other player with nothing todo sometimes.really nothing to do in the open world springfield. useless item collecting.
The simpsons game is fun. but you need to know its short . but there are some stand outs to it, like its fun gameplay and awesome humor.
After a dream sequence with homer (land of chocolate) bart finds a manual to a video game called the simpsons game, later putting springfield to danger. The simpsons need to turn everything back to normal by confronting there creator to stop the aliens from attacking before its too late. Its great EA got the acters to play there roles, and the story is filled with great gags and laugh out loud moments.
Gameplay is simple. its sorta like a platformer, puzzle solver,action game. you get a basic punch button (and a power combo after 2 succesful hits)a power move (look rapid burp or super burp) a jump button and a interact button. The game also supports multiplayer (sorry no online play).this is not to bad of a set and its really fun. problem is is that this is all to easy. enemies never get to tough , puzzles are easy and overall ends to quickly. in the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 you can explore springfield, but after seeing it all, youll probaly go straight to the mission (oh and than you collect useless collectables.)
but thats not all though. The simpsons game mocks the game industry. They make fun of gauntlent (i think it was called)frogger,metal gear solid, and so much more (even EA own the sims and medal of honor)
EA really captured the look of the show. Both the playstation 3 and xbox360 version look spectacular, and the framerate rarely hitches. theres some noticable low res textures and some lip synch looks wierd, but the graphics are great. theres even animated cutscenes in there too. though sometimes ithink the animators didnt do there best as some of the drawing look odd and slightly off model.(in the around the world in eightie bites opening cutscene for example.)
But the humor is the standout to the game. when ever you encounter a cliche (like a double jump or the in ability to swim or switches and levers)the game stops for a moment and comic book guy will pop up and say "oh thats real original" . The cutscenes and the ingame deliever jokes that always feel spot on. one has homer (when you leave him idle for abit)sleeping while standing with his mouth wide open. classic! i really think the game is on pare with the movie.
The sound has the simpsons real voice actors (who by the way sounds great)and sound effects work.
While the simpsons game may have some problems, its not bad. This is obviously matt groeings last video game (remember the bad ones like simpson skateboarding and the classic nes ones) but that, id say rent it first, then buy it. But eithier way, any simpsons fan (like me) will enjoy the simpsons game.
