Lord of the Rings Online is the best MMO out there nowadays, and, it's free!
The game is the perfect game for any LOTR or MMO fan. It has a lot of content to explore, and s very well done.
The game has the perfect setting for a mmorpg, Middle Earth! Who could have wished for a better game world? The game has around 20 zones, each of them is unique, and MASSIVE! Zones are much, much larger than in WoW, and they really provide a great sense of scale to the game.
The game lets you chose from 1 of four races: men, elves, hobbits and dwarves, and from 7 classes (9 with the Moria expansion). Each race has it's own bonuses and traits, so choosing the right race is important.
The classes are all special and fun, some of them unique to the MMO universe.
Each class has a lot of skills, and with the trait system, there's much customization involved in your character.
The game has a lot of content, each race starts from their own starting zone, and later on you move on to the more advanced zones. There are thousands of quests, and story-quests (you finish them to advance the story), there are instances, raids, and skirmishes, which are another type of instance.
PvP is kind of lacking in the game, but there is the Ettenmoors zone, where you can play as a monster (chose from 1 of 6 types if I remember correctly) and fight other players for control of the zone in players vs. monster players!
Other than fighting and questing the game also has a great crafting, and professions system, and also hobbies such as fishing, and even playing music (you can learn to play actual songs).
The game has recently turned free to play, the F2P system is very solid, allowing you to chose what you want to play and what not to, and you can reach max level without opening you wallet once, or you can decide to pay for more zones or other benefits.
The game has great sound and graphics, among the best of any MMO game, and now that it's free, there's really no reason not to try it!
I have played many MMO's along the years, and I truly believe that LOTRO is the best MMO game available today, so go ahead and try it.
