Zelda and the seven seas

User Rating: 9.3 | The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Limited Edition) GC
The creators of the wind waker sure took some brave decisions. The game has a unique cell-shading look to it, making it look very cartoony. Also the adventure now takes place on open seas.
The story is very original. The land of Hyrule now lies beneath the waves and the people are scattered on small islands. When your sister has been kidnapped by a giant bird you join a group of pirates and go after her. Then you discover that something dark from the past is trying to take over te present and you'll be travelling to temples in order to stop that from happening.
The cartoony look suites this game fine, it's not trying to be "ocarina of time". The game takes advantage of the cube's power with changing weather conditions, winds on which you travel and distant horizons. You can sail anywhere you like once you've gotten you own boat, discovering islandsand fighting giant seamonsters, it's just great.
However the game doesn't get a 10. Towards the end of the game you have to look for treasure on the ocean floor which gets boring after a while. There were supposed to be more dungeons, but they were cancelled to get the game in stores earlier. You have a conductor's stick which has the same function as the ocarina inocarina of time and it gets a bit repetitive playing the song to change the winddirection over and over again. The dungeons are, i don't know, less fun then in previous Zeldas.
It's still a superb game.
