A Legend of the DS

User Rating: 9 | Zelda no Densetsu: Mugen no Sunadokei DS
Following the events of "The Legend of Zelda; Wind Waker", Phantom Hourglass takes you to the seas of Hyrule in search of treasure, answers and an adventure that will be sure to entertain.

Graphics and Sound;

One of the best on the handheld. Reminiscent of Wind Waker, the cinematics and gameplay are clean and solid. There were no instances of frame rate drop-age either. Though some may not like the art style of this game, it will sure be an eye pleaser for many.

The well known sounds of the Zelda series are present. While the sound may not be as epic, as compared to a console version, the game's sound holds well on the DS.

Gameplay;

You travel from island to island in search of adventure and answers to the events happening in Hyrule.

The game makes excellent use of the touchscreen. Where other games treat the touch screen as a gimmick, Phantom Hourglass maximizes the use of the touchscreen. It moves Link about the area, utilizes different weapons, allows for puzzle solving via drawing, and allows players to draw on maps. There are clever features and add ons in the game that will enhance the touch gameplay experience, such as making mental notes on maps. There is a lot of repetition for players in the infamous "Ocean King Temple". Although it does take up a fair amount of the game, it's nothing to be upset about.
Outside of the main storyline, there are certain minigames and challenges and player could spend time on, as well as searching for items.

Overall;

Phantom Hourglass is a must play game for DS owners and Zelda fans. With solid gameplay mechanics, an interesting plot and excellent presentation, this game is worthy of it's title, a great addition to the franchise and one of the best games on the DS.
