its a port of the game that defined the LoZ franchise for years to come

Well its the same game i remembered loving as a child so of course its a good game buts there's no point in evaluating it on the success of the original so here's a break down of the port. To start with the 3d effect which was the entire selling point of this port is just an eyesore that you will most likely turn off after the first hour of playing. The 3ds control scheme is awkward and annoying when you realize that you're going to need to hold down L for long periods of time and the harsh rectangular shape of the DS will be doing its best to make the experience unpleasant for you. Finally, the only new content that was added to the game is a mirrored hard mode where the maps of the vast majority of the game where flipped for reasons that make no sense and all the main dungeons were replaced with similar but slightly harder puzzles. The addition of harder puzzles was a good idea that I support, but the problem of this feature is that its only unlocked after you beat the game which means if you wanted to try the only new content to the game you'd better be willing to replay the entire thing over again with the selective inversion messing with your sense of direction. Ocarina of time is a good game that unlike Golden Eye actually stands the test of time and its nice to know that the generation of gamers too young to of known the n64 will be able to play this historical treasure, but the 3ds does little more than cheapen the experience. Buy this game, but don't expect anything new from it.
