Distributed just in time for Christmas sales in November 1988, the North American release of Ocarina of Time was greeted with popular critical acclaim and immediate global commercial success, selling 2.5 million copies before the year was out. Originally developed for the N64, Ocarina of time was later re-leased for the Gamecube and featured an additional version of the game called the "Master Quest," which included extra-hard dungeons.

Ocarina of Time has won several prestigious awards, and was the first in its series to adopt 3D graphics. Additionally, it introduced a new range of techniques to the combat system, such as context-sensitive actions, and Z-targeting.

Ocarina of Time is an action/adventure game that combines elements of RP and puzzle solving. Once again, the protagonist Link sets off on a quest to save the land of Hyrule from the infamous Prince of Thieves, Ganondorf, who seeks to steal the sacred Triforce. Using the mystical power of Zelda's ocarina, Link employs the power of song to manipulate the weather, warp to far away destinations, and even disrupt the flow of time.
