Hyrule is Alive

User Rating: 10 | The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild NS

This is the most impressive game that I have ever seen in my life. I have a time of 205 hours of this game. So I’m pretty sure that I have a good grasp on this game. This is a masterpiece and in my opinion, better than Ocarina of Time.

Exploration: 10/10

Hyrule being this vast is just mind blowing. This is the best the series been. Hyrule being this large and having so much to explore is to me just awesome. Considering the development time given to the team, this world was worth the wait. If it looks possible, do it! Hyrule being alive is feels like real nature for me. It’s literally alive. I have never witnessed a video game like breath of the wild feeling the wilderness this intense in a VIDEOGAME. The birds tweeting, deer’s sprinting, fireflies at night, this was just a wonderful experience. The shrines are an awesome edition to the game. Even though there are a lot of blessing shrines, exploration for the shrine quest and just the exploration of the shrine itself is just a lot rewarding. And how detailed Hyrule is compared to its size is just awesome. However, I would want underwater swimming like Mario and more caves. Which was a lot of fun exploring in Minecraft. Climbing is just the definition of awesome. i did not like the old Zelda games climbing being just not fun climbing to a simple direction. However, climbing to anywhere i want just changed everything in exploring. I've heard a lot of complains on the snowy mountains and Hyrule field, however, i had actually a lot of fun in the snowy area finding hot springs, mini games, shrines, and just shield surfing. However, I must agree with the complaints of Hyrule field that was just a plain grass field with nothing special. Zora's Domain was okay for exploration. Above the mountains, from the Zora armor to the Lynel and with some shrines, i would say it was pretty fun exploring. But I had a lot of fun exploring the Akkala region from the lakes, wetlands, and the famous skull lake and Akkala ancient tech lab. Death Mountain was a little dry thinking of exploration. But that was just unfortunate considering swimming on lava is impossible. And not a lot of shrines to find and discover. All you can consider finding fun is Korok seeds and hot springs. Korok forest was a great and rewarding location. And it is awesome. i wish i can see many types of forest similar to Korok forest in the future entries. Even thought the Tanagar canyon was huge, it was a lot empty and the ruins were a lot meaningless except the forgotten temple. The Rito was empty to many people but I personally loved the snowy mountain area just as I mentioned earlier. It was pretty fun exploring the Herba, Gerudo and Lanayru Mountains. Gerudo desert was also dull in exploration. Just too much wastelands and nothing to find much. The sandstorm jamming the radar of the Sheikah Slate was just frustrating while exploring. Hyrule Castle had a lot to explore which was fun, but you miss almost 60% of Hyrule Castle’s fun and go straight to the final boss, which is just unfortunate. Like the library, docks, locks and more. i still think exploring Hyrule castle was very fun. If I have one problem with exploration, its rain. This was just very negative from the community and I’ll tell you why. Lighting was not a problem. Because if you have thunder proof armor or the thunder helm, you can have other ways to make your exploration helpful by adding effort to the game. However, that was not the case of climbing in rain. There was no other way to prevent yourself by slipping. Overall, exploring Hyrule was one of my best experience with gaming and just have tears looking back.

Combat: 10/10

The combat of Breath of the Wild is the best of all series. Let me tell you guys this. Even if you have a lot of experience with The Legend of Zelda Series, this game is hard. There will constantly be many monsters to one hit K.O you. You need to get good with the combat dodge and parry techniques to get better at the combat. This difficulty is one of the elements to make an awesome combat system. One other system is the weapon durability. This is frustrating when your weapon breaks. However, this pushes you to constantly explore for weapons and consider your weapon usage. For example, if you get a weapon with high damage or rare arrows, you can use them for later in boss fights. Or if you’re using a weapon to a weak enemy, you should consider using a non-rare weapon that doesn't matter a lot in your adventure. The Bosses where okay i guess but Dark Beast Ganon was just a relaxing moment for you to finish the game. Calamity Ganon was okay but i wish he had a more HP or a third phase because it was pretty underwhelming to beat Calamity Ganon in almost 5 minutes considering my 70 hour gameplay. Overall, this is the best combat system in the series yet and hope to see this return in the future.

Story: 7/10

If I say, there was no story at all. Just a plot and some extra character story. However, the plot fits the Hyrule in BotW very well. And was a clever way to have memories around the world considering not having any limits whatever you do in a game. The memories are not actually related to the plot too much, it just shows how Hyrule was at the old days and the characters individual characteristics. However, after I played twilight princess and skyward sword, I believed that the story could have been better. However, I will praise the game trying to add voice acting to the game and individual cool cut scenes

Music: 9/10

The music is pretty much nothing. However, the small tiny slow tones of piano rhythm is fitting the environment good. I mean really good. I think others would rather feel it awkward having vivid and strong music in the environment. Breath of the wild fits environments really well. For example, Hyrule castle being a dramatic music with the same feel of the music is awesome. Zora’s domain being a fresh relaxing music and Rito village having a slow beautiful tone of Dragon Roost Island is just beautiful. However, I wish the field music was more diverse and other locations like the snowfield. It gets boring especially when you explore Hyrule for hundreds of hours. Overall, I think the music fits the game a lot but want more diversity in the next game.

Overall, the game is a great experience and an essential for single player users and people who want to explore a vast world; this is the game for you. Even for Zelda old fans, I wish they could see what the series have made up to this date. Thank you for reading my review.
