Something that makes no sense....

I love this game and all, and maybe its just because I'm going through on Hard difficulty, but with looting and scrounging for supplies being a key aspect of the game it makes no sense that you don't rip ammo and what not off every human enemy you kill.  I understand they want to keep an aspect of conserve your supplies, but really that doesn't make any sense though.  Just kinda pisses you off after you get in a jam with no way out but to shoot.

I noticed that too but I liked that feature because let's face it, an AI is just not smart enough to utilize stealth to the level of human intelligence. This gives you some peace of mind since you don't have to worry about them constantly getting spotted. As for the OP I agree wtih you completely I wish you were able to loot ammo from all fallen enemies.

Oh man, I'm so glad the friendly AI can't be spotted...

If they could, this game would've been impossible :P

Another annoyance is enemies having seemingly unlimited ammo, they react when you run out of ammo so why don't they ever run out too? That would make for some cool little moments.

THIS^^^ Also.. yeah.. my roommate was livid when I told him you had to scrounge for ammo.. then he realized that it didn't drop from everyone (though they were def all shooting)

Could not agree more! other thing for me was if they were going for realism wouldn't some of the guns you happen to use occasionally jam? or maybe even a failure to feed?

I posted it in another forum that it's just a creative liberty that we have to swallow.  It's a hard line to draw between gameplay and realism.  Obviously they wanted to enforce consideration of action dependant on your supplies, but saw that if every enemy was lootable that would be impossible.

So they had to find a compromise.....some enemies can be looted for rounds, just not all.  I just delude myself into believing that those without any rounds, I killed at the moment they ran out.  Yea, yea, a little too much of a conincidence but the fiction works for me.  Besides, I wouldn't want hundreds of rounds, that would kind of defeat the purpose.  What would be cool is if Joel could loot ammo casings, primer, and rounds (in addition to all the other items) to create each different type of ammo.  The you'd have to decide which type to make before a fight.

What would've been neat also is if each enemy had anywhere from 5-20 shots themselves and could run out, and then melee combat (considering how good it is) would take over the slack.  Then firefights would be very brief and many engagements would end hand to hand.  Then they could've built a bit more upon the melee engine.  I'd be cool with that also.

I grumbled all through the game about the scarce resources like bullets especially when you're forced into a shootout and move right into another battle. But you know what? I survived on hard.  I'm a good player ... not great. Until I finished the game, I didn't appreciate the point they were trying to make. Namely these are tough times and resources are scarce. It made me play harder and smarter. In hindsight, I like that. If I could have picked up weapons and ammo from every guy I strangled, I would have just gone around shooting everybody.  It may not have made sense but it made for a better game.

^^ That... and I am glad any party with Joel or Ellie was not a worry.  I sometimes early on moved my stealth position if I noticed Ellie out in the open.  Then I realized this was of no concern when an enemy would bump into her.  I felt grateful even on Easy.

[TLoU ND forum has been down most of the day and night for maintenance.  I say something bad happened.]

Try not to bust a blood vessel making sense out of a video game....especially one that has a old man escorting a 14 year old girl across a country that happens to be filled with rebels, zombies, and cannibals....while having a very limited amount of resources like food and weapons. Enjoy video games for what they are because logic will ruin your experience every time...if you give it a chance to do so.
