To test the Atomiswave hardware… nothing much more about it

User Rating: 6.5 | The King of Fighters NeoWave PS2
The point of this game was the developers to test Atomiswave hardware where this game is developed on unlike the other preivous games were developed on the Neo Geo hardware.

Despite this… there is a few things I would want to address.

The art direction were really played around, with photorealistic graphics doesn't seem to match the characters, The character portraits looks really cel shades, considering that it rendered very well, which I like. However the are difficult to take in, it does grow after a while, however some stages look like a mess by changing the view point after a number of rounds, which looks weird and something I would expect from a 3D game, considering that this KOF game is focused on 2D.

Finally the presentation on some screens do look alittle strange or jazzy, or it's difficult to see what kind of style it's trying to protray, they could of done something alittle more formidable.

On the brightside, I really like SNK and despite this, they have kept the formula inside the game, however, it doesn't really push it forward or offer anything that stands out. It does look like they have a colour editing feature that is worth noting.

Finally Geese Howard in business uniform, Art of Fighting 2 style, is in the game, wow, excellent decision, make me want to buy the game, Geese Howard is a total badass.

As I said, I'm a fan of SNK and I would recommend anyone to buy this game if they're a HUGE fan of KOF, however rent this game if your curious and leave it if you want to try out KOF… I suggest buying KOF2000 or KOF XI as they're offer you what the KOF series is all about.
