A big green masterpiece

User Rating: 8.5 | The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction XBOX
Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is everything you could ever ask for from a Hulk game. After a quick tutorial you are immediately given complete, unbridled free roam of the entire city. Smash cars, punt civilians, throw trucks and climb buildings, and that's before you even unlock the additional special moves and power-ups.

You can choose to try the story missions, which are easily identifiable on your map with a nice green circle, or you can choose side missions which vary from hunting down soldiers, timed races, and smashing various objects.

Every time you destroy anything in the game you get "smash points." You can also get smash points by completing the story or side missions. These points can be spent at a safe point on new combos, abilities, and increased max health.

The story isn't fantastic, but it's pretty easy to follow and much better then the movie's. You and a scientist friend of yours journey to suppress the Hulk inside Banner, battling everything the military throws at you on the way.

Ultimate Destruction does great of letting you unlock a new fun ability just before the fighting gets repetitive. And when you complete the game you can unlock even more "just for fun" stuff (Hint: why not let you play as someone else smashing the city?)

There are few imperfections in this not-so-famous gem. One being the bland landscape of the city. Although you can journey to the desert as well, and the city is large with many buildings of different sizes, that's about it. The city lacks major landmarks or any real color. Also, towards the end of the game the chaos of your adversaries can be overwhelming. Not that they are too difficult, just that there are too many. The jets, tanks, helicopters, artillery, and hulkbusters tend to lead to "Hulk frustrated! Hulk has too many things shooting at him!" moments where you fly in the air from a missile, only to land and be thrown back up by another.

All the small gripes are hardly noticeable when your stomping from mission to mission. This is a must have!
