Technically one of the worst in the last years

User Rating: 1 | The Evil Within PC

I tried this game from friends list in steam.

Thank god i never spent a single cent on this.

It is technically one of the worst games i tried in the last 5 years or so i would say.

So for the background, i have a nice PC, not abolutely high end, but all runs smooth.

GTX1060, 8 GB RAM, Core i7.

So lets start with the bads, because this is all i can say from this "masterpiece" of software.

The bads:

You have black bars while playing, no matter which screen resolution you choose.

I have a 16:10 display with 1920x1200, you see black bars, no matter if you select this resolution or full HD resolution (which would explain the black bars).

And no, i am not interested if the developer says "we wanted a film effect", this is all bullshit.

I want to play a game, i f i want film effect i watch a movie. A game never gives the feeling of watching a movie, and it shouldn't. That is why it is a game. I hate it if a dev tries do do this bullshit.

This is also the reason why i always set a film grain slider to zero. What the hell, we live in 2018. There is no "film grain". If you have "film grain" your hardware is defect or you still run VHS tapes.

The field of view is like many console ports nowaday complete utter shit.

This issue is an illness which came with Playstation 3 generation, not able to display sensible fov from at least 100 or more because of low hardware power and the try to disguise this.

But why the hell this has to be ported 1:1 to PC versions too in so many cases ?

Lazy programmer which just want to get the money without the effort to spend some time in an adapted PC port, it is a pain in the neck.

In the menus, sometimes the mouse wheel works, in some windows not.

If you try to set new button configuration, you should do this only with keyboard, because if you try to do this with mouse wheel and mouse button to select etc, you will get errors and not correct mapped buttons. It is a mess.

Well i understand this game is made for controller. But the game did such a bad job in the first minutes that i did not even want to start to connect my controller and set up the steering.

And even if it is better to play with controller, at least the mouse setting and button configuration should WORK.

Graphics, poor. Looked better for me on some screens, i set everything to max, but well, still not up to date. (Of course this is not the worst issue, i could live with it if all other points would be ok).

Gameplay sucks hard, because of steeering, field of view, frame lock and black bars.

Oh and not to forget, it is not very inventive.

Wow, a bad psycho with mask and chainsaw is hunting me, never seen that before anywhere....

Come on, i dont care if this game was made from the guy who made the great Resident Evil 1, at least from PC tech, this guy has not the slightest idea.

After about 60 minutes i uninstalled.

This game, on PC at least, is in my opinion an offense to the player and even more for the buyer.

The goods:

Nothing. No really, nothing.
