I was skeptical of just how good it could be, in theory the concept sounded solid and the early artwork was impressive. However, I still assumed that like most games, it would be over-hyped. How wrong I was...

When I started playing, I was immediately taken in by the surroundings. The world is top class and really immersive. I felt as if I had been transported to the cold, icy and windswept landscapes of Scandinavia. The first time a game had drawn me into my environment so quickly. With that said, there was a sense of boredom in the first 30 minutes to an hour of playing. This is a time when many first time players stop and say the game isn't for them. That is the biggest mistake one can make, I know because I made it the first time playing.

I picked the game up again a few months later and forced myself to sit through the first 2 hours. I began quickly growing attached to my character. The story started developing quicker and before I knew it I was completely immersed within the story. And before I knew it I was 30 hours into the game and had formed a bond with my character that I hadn't felt in other games.

Each level gained would feel as though it was a personal accomplishment, extending far more than just the result of some pixels on a screen. I spent countless hours training my character in the things I would be interested in personally.

Both the main quests and the side quests are almost always fun and entertaining and very rarely do you feel as though you wasted time doing them.

The weaponry and the magic abilities are outstanding, combined with excellent combat and generally gameplay makes for what can only be described as hands down the best RPG ever made. Bethesda did an amazing job at blending user friendly game play with a great story line and beautiful environment.

There is little to fault with Skyrim, except that there are a few bugs that can crop up and cause problems. During my game play I have encountered 2 frustrating bugs. One where I was unable to enter a door that I needed to, to complete a quest. This was resolved by loading a previous save. The second bug was the common one in which Legate Rikke does not provide me with the next quest needed. This took days before it resolved itself.

I can't recommend the game enough, but as mentioned earlier in the review. Make sure to give yourself the time to get immersed in the game and for the strong story to develop. Do not give up without at least 5 hours of game play.
