TES IV Oblivion review.

User Rating: 6.7 | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion X360
After playing Morrowind most of the players where looking forward to next The Elder Scrolls game- Oblivion. It was bound to be a next gaming legend. Unfortunately something has gone terribly wrong. I player Oblivion on x360 for over 100 hundred hours. It's the best time for some thoughts.

This game was said to have great graphics. And it occurs that the cities are beautiful. There is a wide variety of architecture between each city. People are differently dressed. You can clearly see who belongs to high-mid or low class or what is the occupation of each person. It's sad that this magic breaks if you only live aglomeration. Landscape is everywhere mostly the same. In most places its impossible to tell in which part of Clyrodill you are. But then it gets worse... Elf ruins, Oblivion landscape, forts.... they are build from the same base blocks. If you have visited one of the kind when visiting the rest you have that annoying feeling: been there, done that. Traps in ruins are always the same. After visiting the 4th fort a big *yaaaawn* has left my mouth.

The more you play the game the more drawbacks it shows to you: The gameplay. Whole world is autoleveling with you. How does it work? Simply: on level one you kill a rat, on level 10 the same rat takes the same time to kill. Stupid? Yes. Basically you don't to gain experience points. There is no reward for that. You have to forget about powerful bosses which you will be able to kill in late game progress. Of course while gaining levels some new creature occur in the world. But they are still extremly easy to kill. Now it's time for the worst: The Plot. Story is the cyber core of every single RPG. Oblivion has a very weak plot. You play the same schematics again: from zero to hero. The story isn't interesitng. People can say that it can even be consider as boring. It's hard to refuse. The main story is very shallow. I don't want to waste your time which you would spend on reading it. Thankfully some side quests are something more than: "Go from point A to point B and kill everything standing on your way" Missions of Dark Brotherhood are clearly the best part of the game. The are intense. They make your pulse go up. Two last missions of Thieves Guild, mission in an invisible town, in the painting are also great. It's bad that there are to few quality side quests.

The sound background is good in this game. It deserves 8/10. It dosen't annoy user. It well describes whats going on on the monitor/TV.

Nevertheless this game has still some from the TES magic. If you didn't mind those huge drawback which I pointed out you ought to rent this game. If they concern you then just let it go. This game won't be worth playing. Better save your money and wait for a true full TES kind of a game. Oblivion is a great example of how to lose a great potential.
