If you want to spend the rest of your life playing one game, this could be it.

This game has so much going for it that the few drawbacks can be overlooked. Well-designed, very good if by now somewhat dated graphics, smooth game play, enormous playing field, sliding bar difficulty settings, design and build your avatar, wide variety of monsters and loot, good character building, challenging but not ridiculous puzzles, save anytime anywhere, good interactive play, pre-firearms weaponry, many spells and magic including build your own, and lots of help online. Definitely don't hesitate to use the online help if you want to. It also enriches the game experience. There's a lot more, but you get the idea.

It has a little more micromanagement than I personally would like. I'd like more frequent battles. But the way the game is set up it's necessary if you play it full out. However, you can skip a lot of it if you don't want to bother with it. You can do all 200-plus quests if you're nuts like me, or stick mostly to the main story line. You can store your loot on the ground somewhere if you want and it won't disappear. I put mine in the marketplace around the Three Brothers shop, scattered into specific spots sorted according to how I want it. Remember where you put it. Fast travel speeds up game play a lot. The potion I use most often is Feather which allows me to carry more stuff. You can buy a little or make a lot, there's lots of ingredients for it, but you need to keep a sufficient supply on your character. Don't get caught in the middle of nowhere with less than you need, or in order to move you'll have to drop your loot, and maybe some weapons and armor right where you are. Then you have to come back and find it. It will be there. My favorite cheat on my desktop system is tilde - tg - enter - tilde, or tilde - tt - enter - tilde. Respectively they remove all the grasses that block your view of the ground, and the extra trees. Easier to see what your doing, and find the loot dropped by enemies. Repeating the command will reverse it, as will restarting the game.

Overall this game rocks. And i haven't even tried any of the plug-ins or expansions yet.
