Forget Oblivion, forget Dragon Age, and forget just about every other RPG since this came out.

User Rating: 9.5 | The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Game of the Year Edition PC
Sure, Morrowind may have some pretty outdated graphics, and it's not without its has its fair share of bugs, but this game has all the charm, beauty and immersiveness that you could want from an RPG. I played my fair share of this game in my preteen years and it's one of the games I've cherished most. Sure, Oblivion has superior graphics, but just about every other aspect of Morrowind is just, well, better. From the minute you start the game you know it's gonna be fantastic, I absolutely love the Morrowind theme. Now, I'm going to admit something, I never got around to finishing the main quest, or most of the available quests for that matter. But that isn't important, I know for a fact, even without finishing the game, Morrowind's plot is far more original than Oblivion's, which let's be honest, was a big pile of cliches. Morrowind has so much more depth and variety than Oblivion. There are more skills, more weapon types, more unique weapons, more unique terrains and town tile-sets and plenty of monsters, quests and dungeons to keep you satisfied. The voice acting in Morrowind is much better than Oblivion,at least in my opinion, however it doesn't have voice over for every single branch of dialogue, but it's an older game and that's perfectly acceptable. The game does an excellent job in letting you know that there is so much to do and see, you start out in a quaint swampy village, and it doesn't make a huge deal of the main quest line. Considering the age of this game, it's insane the amount of detail and depth that has been put into the game. Like all the Elder Scrolls games, there are tons of races and classes to choose from, but in Oblivion the removed/merged some of the skills and weapon types. I'm going to admit that this review is a big mess and probably feels more like a comparison than a review, but I felt that this was the best way to review it, and who cares anyway. All in all, Morrowind is one of my favourite games of all time, and if it weren't for Windows Vista, I'd be playing it right now. It has gone immensely under appreciated and over shadowed by Oblivion and it deserves some recognition. Oh, and one last thing, unlike Oblivion the level up system in this game isn
t absolutely ridiculous.
