Amazing RPG experience

User Rating: 9 | The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Game of the Year Edition XBOX

Morrowind is a classic RPG. It has a great story, an amazing world to explore full of interesting creatures, people, books, and history. You start out in prison, not knowing why you were even there in the first place, the Emperor gave the order to set you free.

You are sent to a man named Caius Cosades, who is the Grand Spymaster of The Blades(The Emperor's eyes and ears). He will be giving you orders, and you are to follow them if you want to proceed with the main quest. One of the beauties of this game, is that you don't have to do the main quest if you don't feel like it, you can actually ignore it completely. There's so much to explore, so much to find, and so many different factions to join.

The world of Morrowind is huge, and you will often feel lost. But I personally love that about Morrowind. Feeling lost in such a unique and mysterious world is really an astounding experience. The game is kinda hard in the beginning, and you have to be very patient. Don't expect to be able to wield any weapon and conquer your enemies with it. Your character will be very weak, and it is up to you to build the character that you envision. There's so many different skills to consider, and the way you increase them is by simply using them. If you want to increase your two-handed weapon skill, then all you have to do is use a two handed weapon. The more you use it, the more you get better at it. It makes perfect sense compared to the XP system that most other RPG games have. Another thing I love about Morrowind is the character customization. You can wear many types of armor pieces, and mix it with other types of armor. You can make your character look very unique, and there's plenty of armor to choose from.

A few negatives that I can think of include the graphics(which is unfair because the game is pretty old) the journal, and sluggish combat. The journal is very disorganized, and combat is nothing to write home about. But the pros definetly outnumber the cons. There's so much to this game that it's impossible to mention everything. Morrowind is such a deep game, you will spend more than 100+ hours on it. It offers an amazing RPG experience that shouldn't be missed by any RPG fan. It is simply one of the greatest games I've ever played. Just be very patient, and you won't regret it.

9.5/10

Pros: Interesting story, amazing diverse world to explore, lots of quests, variety of unique weapons and armor, great character customization, great leveling system, 100's of hours worth of content.

Cons: The journal is a disorganized mess, the combat isn't great, and the game has a very slow start that might turn off a lot gamers, especially people who started the series with Oblivion or Skyrim.
