A great premise gone awry. Good story, art and music, but is bottle-necked by bad VA, writing and puzzles.

I've always considered this game to be the weak link in Lucasarts adventure games, and after playing it again recently, i stand by that belief. "The Dig" tries its hardest to be good, but at the end, the ridicules not-sure-why-the-character-needs-to-do-that puzzles, and the voice actors' somewhat reluctant performance (especially for the actress that did Maggie. Seriously, committing to the moment much?), really makes the game a frustrating piece that doesn't menage to find it's place.
Music and art are the best part in this game, and I might even say that the music is a reason on it's own to play the game. The story is very interesting, but is revealed slowly and not in such an interesting way. Most of the game you spend on your own, with no one to talk to, and your sidekick characters show up and leave for no apparent reason and are used solely as plot devices (and also making no sense, how does Maggie reaches all those place before Low, if you're in a loop-ish place with those closed doors? who knows.)
Game came out in 1995, but it looks like a 92-93 game, especially the characters' sprites. Cutscenes are okay, but drawn kind of awkwardly, and the character design in them doesn't seem to fit with the actual sprites' design.
And that's about it. Average, with great music.
