Demonicon is clearly not a AAA game, and it is seen at every step you take.Most things about this game are average at best, and that sums up the game pretty well.Average. It is not bad, but it isn't actually good. Still, this is a game you should try and see if it's to your liking. For me,it was a decent,and somewhat enjoyable way to pass the time with it's 10-hour-long campaign.
The story of the game, something that seems to be talked about like a strong point of the game, is hard to describe.It does tell a tragic love tale,but it is terribly narrated.The writing is awful,the voice acting is even worse,to the point where I found it hard to keep up with the story because I had to skip through so much of the dialogue because of how awful it was.Overall,I'd say the story is OK,but a real pain to follow.
The graphics are decent,not exactly the greatest but OK. The battle animations and magic effects are very good, but the facial animations are absolutely terrible, another reason why following the dialogues is so hard. The characters have one default expression that never changes, even when the character is angry, his expression is still completely emotionless and bland.
As for the gameplay, this was a strong point for me.Excellent action oriented combat, with decent RPG elements. Dodging,parrying,magic,weapons,everything blends nicely in battle letting you fight enemies in any way you wish and gives you lots of freedom to experiment with your own style. The combat is the most fun part of the game and surely it's strongest point. The RPG elements offer some customization, but not really that much, as you can still effectively use everything even if you try and specialize for a certain aspect of combat.
The music was surprisingly good. I found myself really enjoying the scores which fit perfectly with every ambient and with the mood, adding a nice touch.
Overall.I can recommend you try the game, as it isn't exactly bad. Whether you will like it, that is a different matter, but you should definitely give it a chance.
