What the heck do you do?

I got this game when I was younger, obviously considering it came out 20 years ago. Anyway, I have to say that it is probably one of the least entertaining fishing games of all time. Now, to be honest, I'm not a fan of fishing games to begin with. I'd much prefer to sit on a boat in real life and drink a beer than stare at a computer screen and catch pixel fish.

That being said, take my review with a grain of salt if you are going to bother reading it at all. Not really sure why I'm reviewing a 20 year old NES fishing game to begin with, but it struck me as a requirement considering my disdain for this game.

The overall problem I have with this game is that there is really no clear direction on what the heck you are supposed to be doing. You just hit start and it dumps you on a lake with a lousy looking boat (that resembles a tugboat) and you go find a spot to fish. Who knows what you are supposed to catch? Nobody!?!?! There's no directions, the manual doesn't even explain it.

This leaves you essentialy floating around catching random fish with no clue as to whether or not what you're catching is what you're supposed to be catching.

On top of this, I have to say that sound is some of the most irritating noise to ever accompany a video game. When you are near breaking your line and losing your lure, the game starts beeping incessantly and doesn't stop until you let go of a button. This is nice at first as it lets you know 'Hey, you'll lose your fish.' However, after catching one big fish it makes you want to throw your controller through your TV.

Be careful with this though, it'll break your TV and won't even harm your NES controller.

I think in total there were 4 lakes in this game, thus 4 different levels. I never made it past the 2nd lake. Talk about annoying. It was worse than trying to land the plane in top gun.

Ridiculous.
