Another great hit by Team Teat!

User Rating: 10 | The Binding of Isaac PC
The Binding Of Isaac is a Zelda like dungeon game created by hit indie games company Team Meat. The game has many religious jokes and is based on the bible story of the same name. There is a lot of dark humour in this games (such as a coat hanger sticking out of your head, most likely a reference to back street abortions), so if you get offended easily do not play this though it is nothing too offensive and should be taken light heartedly. If you have ever heard of Team Meat you know their games are very difficult and not for the faint hearted, their games are the old school style of difficulty. (More detail on this further down). The story is that Isaac's mother is told by God that Isaac is a sinner and she should remove his toys, so she does, then God tells her to lock Isaac in his room, as she does, then one final time God tells Isaac's mother that she has to kill him because he is evil. As she is breaking down the door with a knife Isaac lies there scared and crying he finds a trap door under his rug, hooray! Well now that the story is out of the way lets talk about the gameplay. You play as a boy named Isaac who wanders around the basement looking for a way out. You start in a room with the controls drawn on the floor so you know how to play instantly, the rooms you are in are not very big but are big enough to serve there purpose they are designed for whether that be an arcade with slot machines and posters or an arena full of enemies trying to kill you. There are many sorts of enemies to discover in the basement of the house from maggots that try to eat you when they see you ,flies that explode and even dust bunnies! You start off with a basic weapon where you fire your tears at the enemies but you can upgrade them to even fire blood from your eyes with a crucifix engraved onto your forehead or magical purple fire balls. You start off with 3 hearts and most of the time when you get hit you lose half a heart, it's not easy to survive with this when you are bombarded by enemies from several directions at once. It doesn't help that your health carries over from level to level (7 in total including the final boss fight). It starts off relatively easy with a few flies but eventually you are getting chased by foetuses which only stay dead for a few second unless you shoot the blobs that are left over after killing them for the first time. There are also many power up's from trading cards, to a unicorn horn to even mums bra, all the items that you use change the visual apperance of issac to whatever the item you have is for example, dynamite is strapped to your chest so you won't forget what special weapon you have equipped, these are usually quite powerful but you have to go through enough rooms after using them to let it recharge. Towards the end it does get very difficult to survive and there is no way your going to complete this in a single play through so there is much replayability value no matter how good you are at the game. There are around 8 bosses that are chosen randomly for the end of each level of the dungeon, they start of easy but get very hard later on. Another great feature of this game is that every dungeon is randomly generated so you will never play the same game twice! (The bosses for example). There are three characters to unlock who are Magdaiene, Cain and another secret one which i won't spoil each have different stats but you have to unlock them all which isn't an easy feat. Completing the game once is not enough because there are multiple endings to unlock and a couple of extra levels which you can't unlock until you beat the game which adds an extra level of difficulty.

In conclusion this is a very good game with much replay value and the controls are basic enough for anyone to pick up. The dark humour adds an extra layer of entertainment to the game and at £3.50 is a great deal, i would defiantly recommend this to all of my friends and think if your reading this and like the sound of the game you should go and buy it now!
