Anyone that has played old-school RPGs will enjoy the humor of this game. My only wish was that the gameplay be a little less monotonous. Sure killing your first large rat and defeating your first bugbear boss is exciting and new, but before your boots hit the world map for the first time, the combat is boring and your main focus is hurrying up and getting to the next joke, rather than the next combat thrill. This is only made worse at the end by the ridiculous 13-lvl climb up the final tower to the final boss.
Despite a tiring battle system, the production values are pretty high with good voice acting and not a lot of reading. I wish the pre-rendered cut-scenes had been at a much higher resolution. It looked like watching a zoomed in 320x200 video on my humongous HDTV.
Rent it for the laughs, use the cheat codes to speed up the monotonous combat and enjoy yourself...we did.
