This game is a difficult one for me to fairly review, because it was one of my first videogames ever. All I know is that if you’re ever in a situation where you can buy this game, do it. The Gameplay- gameplay basically boils down to moving right on the screen, shooting bat-a-rangs at every enemy you meet, collecting power-ups, and fighting an end-stage boss. Some times you’ll encounter a different kind of level, one where you are flying around on your bat-glider. These levels are particularly cool because you’re often flying really high in the air and so you get that cool feeling of being really small in large backgrounds. The Graphics- The graphics are more or less the best on the genesis, mostly because it was released fairly late in the genesis’ life cycle.
The Sound- sound effects are good and get the job done, but the music is where this game shines. The music is amazing, so much so that I found songs from the game online, downloaded them and put them on my mp3 player.
Lasting Value- While the game is difficult it can be beaten fairly quickly, as was the case for many games of that time. But you’ve got 2-player co-op, so who even really cares.
Just go buy the game already.
