Finally a good modern translation of the game.

I have been a fan of Tetris from the start. Have been disappointed with most versions after the original, except for Spectrum Holobyte's 1992 masterpiece on the PC called Tetris Classic.

Was disappointed with Tetris DS and never bothered with it.

Bought this game on impulse, after watching a YouTube video. I figured they can't keep screwing this game forever and I think I was right.

Bought the game primarily for the single player mode and it delivers what I wanted. Controls are with the direction pad, there's no stylus touchscreen awkwardness here. Only minor quibble I have is that the game doesn't save a top ten high score list and it only records the top five high scores without any name attached to it and it doesn't record the number of lines completed.

The artwork on the game screen is fine but the character artwork on the top screen is horrendous. The avatars you get to pick from look like they were drawn by a four year old with crayons. I would have rather seen a black screen or a simple picture but it's on the top and doesn't affect gameplay so no big deal.

There are eight game modes in total and for a nice change, all of them are enjoyable, especially the Field Climber mode which sees you try to build the blocks up so that a little dude can walk to the top of the screen.

It's nice to have a Tetris on a modern handheld that's fun to play. Can finally retire the old Gameboy version.

I paid $30.00 and don't feel like I got ripped off and imagine I'll be playing this game as long as I have my DS.

A little more work with the top screen artwork and high scores would have made this game a 9 or 10 but it's still pretty darn fun and that's what Tetris should be about.
