This installement of Tetris is the best version of Tetris to be released!

User Rating: 10 | Tetris DS DS

Tetris DS released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. In this installment, this has a number of different modes that include Standard, Mission, Touch, Catch, Puzzle and Push mode. All of these modes have different Nintendo themes related to older games like Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda and Balloon Fight. I will explain a few of these modes that were mentioned below.

The Mission mode has you completing certain objectives to keep your health bar from reaching zero and increasing the amount of blocks on the screen. These missions involve completing lines with certain blocks or only using a certain block to complete a number of lines. The Legend of Zelda background can be seen when playing this mode.

The Standard mode is just your average game of Tetris. The rules are simple: make a line by using the blocks and score points. The game ends when the entire playing field is maxed out with blocks. The Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3 backgrounds can be seen while playing this mode. This is the mode I personally go to the most to rack up a high score on Tetris DS.

Touch mode makes use of the DS stylus. The objective of this mode is to slide the blocks and create rows out of them. When a certain amount of rows are cleared, balloons will be released from the cage. There is a Touch Puzzle mode which is the same mode, but you cannot rotate the blocks and you need to fulfill a certain objective. The Balloon Fight background can be seen when playing this mode.

Catch mode has you creating a 4x4 block made up of smaller Tetris blocks in order to defeat the enemies popping up on the screen. You take damage if you touch an enemy. The game is over after all your health is depleted or the block becomes bigger than the screen. The Metroid background is used for this game.

The Puzzle mode gives you a limited amount of blocks and you need them to clear the puzzles that are given to you. Completing the puzzle will give you 10 points each time and there is no time limit to worry about in this mode so you can take your time with this mode.

Now to talk about one of may favourite modes in the game: Push Mode! This mode pits you against a CPU or friend and you have to push the player into the danger zone by clearing two or more lines. This mode is a lot of fun, especially with another person involved!

These modes are also available for multiplayer as well with up to 10 people playing locally using one DS cartridge or you can play online for up to 4 players. This is easily the best Tetris game available. A variety of fun modes plus multiplayer makes this a must-buy Tetris game for any console. If you have a DS console and you want an awesome Tetris game, then this game is the one you should purchase!
