Test Drive 4 is A Very Fun yet Underrated Racing Game that Should be Played

User Rating: 9.6 | Test Drive 4 PS
Among all other racing games and franchises, Test Drive stands out as a simple and very fun game that racing gamers should enjoy. Test Drive is the start of some very good PlayStation based Test Drive games, and this triumphant trumpeting title is well worth playing.

Test Drive 4 offers quite a simple amount of possibilities in gameplay. You start with 10 hot cars that muscle cars and sport cars, you have the 1998 Dodge Viper GTS, 1998 TVR Cerbera, 1994 Jaguar XJ220, 1995 Nissan 300ZX, 1998 Chevrolet Corvette, 1966 Shelby Cobra 427SC, 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette ZL1, and a few locked cars like the Pitbull Special, Dodge Viper GTS-R (oh yeah!), TVR 12/7 (the prototype to the Speed 12), and the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona.

With all these cars, and some fun tracks to race on, you'll have a great time. Keswick, England is a nice spot, somewhere in the British countryside, and it's animated so well, especially at night. San Francisco has a fast feeling to it. Bern, Switzerland is snowy and well structured. Kyoto, Japan looks a lot like its real counterpart, and Washington D.C is well done as well.

As for graphics, not too perfect, but the cars look moderately nice, but it's the track design is what the show stealer. Before TD5's environmental mapping feature, this feature a simple bar with a white dot in the middle (which is you), and the everything coming to right or the left. It helps a bit.

The sound of each car is amazing and fits them well, every car sound in this game is magnificent. I also liked the soundtrack, although I don't know any of the artists. I do know that one song in the soundtrack was featured in a late 1990s Gatorade commercial. It lasts forever with fans, like me, you just keep going back to it because it so much fun. Worth it for anyone who enjoys a racing game.
