A good mmo to play with a group.

User Rating: 8.5 | TERA PC
Of course, most mmo's have the same general playstyle: grind to max cap, grind for gold, grind for equipment. Tera is pretty much the same thing, but there are some up-sides.

Reaching level cap is easier then any mmo i've ever played. While getting there, you have the option of queuing for dungeons using instance matching, and can even queue for battlegrounds with equalized pvp equipment from lvl 35. (which awards exp) Of course, it is a grind, but if you can find some friends you'll breeze through the early levels like they're nothing.

Once you hit 60, the real game starts. Most good gears all cost battleground/reputation credits, and there are easily comparable gears that drop from some of the hardest instances in the game. Once you hit 60, if you have been saving wisely, you'll be able to take on the top instances within a couple weeks. The journey there is not bad at all. They also release new dungeons every few months with better items for pve, so it's an engaging experience trying to be the strongest.

The community is friendly for the most part. Of course like in any mmo, there are some people that have no decency at all, but there are many friendly active guilds out to help people out.

The downsides? It takes a lot of patience to get the very best gears, and it's a pay to win game, so people who pay for items have a big advantage in getting to the best gears. Also the matchmaking system isn't the best, there are lots of complaints about how 1 sided things are when you solo queue.

Overall, this game is lots of fun. PvP and PvE requires a good amount of skill, as you are constantly alert and using evasion skills or chaining skills in combinations. The community is very helpful, and the graphics look good. It's definitely worth trying out with a group of friends.
