Tekken comes to GBA.

User Rating: 6.4 | Tekken Advance GBA
I'm a big Tekken fan. It's my one of my favorite game series. I have all of their games. I have a Tekken and Soul Calibur website. And I wanted to see what a Tekken hand-held was like so I just recently bought this one. This game better than I expected but of course it's not up to par with Tekken 3-Tekken 5. Also note that this is a port of Tekken 3 (Only worse)

Gameplay: This game feels more of a button masher unlike Tekken games due to only have one punch button and one kick button. But atleast it plays a little like the PS version of Tekken 3. Just don't expect the exact same gameplay. The throws are different too. Instead they just seem to just grab you and do combo unlike how it usually is. Also when you hit someone they stand still for a second then fall or stun. It's not really a problem but it's easy to notice. Rating: 6/10

Graphics: They seem pretty fuzzy. I know the GBA can certainly can do better graphics than this. But at least it's easy to recognize the characters. Also why don't you have the option to choose 2 costumes per character? Another thing I noticed is your character never does a pose at the begging of the round or after you win. Rating: 5/10

Sound: It sounds pretty much like any other Tekken game. Some songs are ported straight from Tekken 3 and the others are new. The downside is it sounds just a tad fuzzy but most GBA games are like that. Rating: 7/10

Value: Their's only one unlockable character and that's Heihachi. Their's an unlockable Team Battle mode too and that's all that can be unlock. Atleast Survival Mode is still there so you can try to get more wins like during trips. And even though it has hardly any replay value this game is somehow addictive sometimes. But too bad their's no Eddy or Bryan or other cool characters from Tekken 3. On the upside though this game actually has a Tag Battle where can choose up to 3 characters at a time. No other Tekken game has had a mode like that. Well Tekken Tag Tournament kind of did but you can only choose 2 characters at a time on that game. Rating: 5/10

Time for some pros and cons:

Pros:
Tekken on GBA!
At least it plays a little like Tekken 3.
It's kind of a fun game.
The characters are recognizable.
It funny how your opponent stands there then falls after you hit them.
The only Tekken game to have a 3 on 3 Tag Battle Mode.
Some of the music was ported nicely.

Cons:
Some missing characters
Gameplay is a little slower than usual.
The graphics could have been better.
Lack of a variety of stages.

Overall: This game isn't as good as it's Playstation counterpart (Tekken 3) but if your a fighting game fan who owns a GBA or a DS go and pick up Tekken Advance to take with you during trips to kill some time. But if you have high expectations then don't bother or atleast lower you expectations. Rating: 8/10
