Easily the best beat em up in the last couple of years, a must have for all beat em up fans.

User Rating: 9.4 | Tekken 5 PS2
The Good : Brilliant visuals, lots of different combos and moves, Great range of characters, Addictive Arcade mode, Character customisation.
The Bad : Still no online play, Crappy Devil Within mode.

Tekken 5 is the sequel to the dissapointing Tekken 4. With very little characters and the addition of wall combos made it the worse in the series.
But a year has went on an Namco have improved on all of these faults and have added in a whole lot more new options.

One of the first of the new improvements is the number of characters rom all of the the older games and three entirely new characters. Such characters such as baek, bruce, wang and ganryu make a welcome return along with newcomers raven, feng wei and asuka. Overall there are 32 characters which has to be the most in the series to date.
Another new option is character customisation. This mode allows you to change the appearance of any of your characters from head to toe whether it is a hat or a different colour of clothing. A nice addition would have been to purchase new moves and stats but i is still great without it.

Probably the greatest of all of namcos new features has to be the improved arcade mode. Arcade mode allows you to fight battles for money. After each round you will be asked if you want to play a harder opponent, a weaker opponent or one a t random. Tekken has also tooken a page out of Virtua fighters book and placed a ranking system to the arcade, After more and more battles you play with each character, your characters rank will go up making harder opponents a little easier. Each individual xharacter has there own ranking so you could have a Nina beginner but a tekken lord King. The harder opponents you play the more money you earn.

But along with great new modes you get crappy ones to too. In this case it is the devil within mode. It is a side game starring Jin and his transformation into the devil gene. This mode is a cheap devil may cry impersonator with repetitive and bland levels.

Overall Tekken should be at the top of your fighting games list for the next couple of years until the release of Tekken 6.
