The original, the classic.

After months of searching, I finally founf the original arcade version of Tekken 3. And finally, I can see why this was such a hit to begin with.

Unlike the PS1 version of Tekken 3, the arcade version only has 1 play option: Arcade mode. The time attack and survival are not there. Though it's kind of disapointing to see on;y 1 option, I'm happy to say that this is all it needs.

To begin game, you have a choice of very different characters, each with his or her own unique fighting style. The styles range from the classic Karate to more unknown styles like Capoeira. Once you choose your character, you take them through the King Of Iron Fist Tournament, defeating all your opponents on the way. The arcade controlls work quite well, so even if you're used to playing fighters with the arcade stick, you'll pick this up quickly, an you'll find your self pulling special moves and combos in no time.

Graphically, this game is nothing short of greatness (at least for its time.) The characters are clear and fairly detailed, and their movements are quite fluid.

While it might be hard to hear the audio in a noisy arcade, if you listen hard enough, you're in for a real treat. The background music is exciting, and a;; of the collision sounds and the character's cries all sound incredibly realistic.

Tekken 3 is nothing short of a great fighting game. But is it worth trying to find the arcade version? Well, it's a good way (and the only way) of playing Tekken the way it was meant to be played. On the other hand, the PS1 version has identicle graphics and sound, and a bigger roster. But if you happen to come across this great game, be sure to spend a bit of time and some quarters.
